romantic homicide
i dont get why the cops took so long to press charges in the d4vd case.
in case you missed it, last year, police discovered the body of a child in singer-songwriter d4vd's car. that child was celeste rivas hernandez. she was 13 and had met d4vd online when she was 11.
the details of this case have really haunted and disgusted me. people in his discord server knew. they had livestreamed together. her teacher was recorded saying that celeste went missing after meeting d4vd. everyone knew this child was in danger. i suppose no one realized just how much danger until it was too late.
what concerns me here isnt what happened to celeste, though. i want to understand why these charges took so long. frankly, i dont trust the police. not here, not in la. in fact id go so far as to say that the lapd are fucking monsters. they clearly enjoy the brutality and violence that comes with playing the role of occupier and colonizer in black and latino communities. however, part of that monstrosity is incompetence. the oj simpson case should have completely destroyed their credibility forever. it isnt enough that they terrorize black, latino, and queer communities. they must also be fucking dogshit at their only singular job.
this is why we say policing just doesnt fucking work, especially not in the way propagandists insist. why did it take a year for the DA to press charges against him?
i have seen people saying its because the pigs wanted to make sure their case was sound. i find that hard to believe. d4vd was the only suspect for a year. hes also a black man, the lapds favorite game to hunt. but as we saw with oj simpson, racist glee backfires pretty hard. in the oj case, the lapd and the DA's office were so excited to be weirdo racists that they let a wife beating murderer off the hook completely through the power of racist incompetence.
‪ honestly, i am really worried theyre going to fuck up this goddamn slam dunk of a case. its so blatantly obvious that he fucking did it, and that he is AT LEAST a pedophile who preyed on an 11 year old CHILD. i find it hard to have faith in the criminal justice system because even when they arrest actually dangerous people, its almost as if the system is afraid to properly deal with them in a timely manner. it makes me wonder if the issue is that the victim is a latina child rather than a white one, but i know that its not as if white victims fare that much better. i think the issue is that society at large simply despises victims.
‪ the state failed to prove its case in another slam dunk case, casey anthony. this one took place in florida but i think its a good example of how prosecutors and cops can be so arrogant that they completely botch an easy victory. i fully believe that anthony killed her daughter, but she is legally not guilty. THAT is a miscarriage of justice. the states malicious incompetence, stupidity, and complacency results in shit like this all the time, yet pig lovers all over the world mockingly ask us who we'll call if we need help. at this point, literally anyone else would do a better job.
‪ and please dont get me wrong. do i want a gigantic police state swooping in like batman to arrest and brutalize wrong do-ers? no obviously not. i admit im pretty squishy on crime. if we eliminate the causes of crime like inequality and lack of education while also providing intensive rehabilitation and reform programs to reintegrate people back into society, im sure horrible crimes will still exist but not to the extent that they currently do. i do want shorter sentences. i do believe nearly anyone can be rehabilitated. i do believe we can eliminate a great deal of violence by, well, making the world a better (and more communist) place.
but i am specifically debunking this fucking belief that the cops and the courts are the only ones who can ever provide justice. the reality is that at best theyre lazy oafs who dont care about the people they claim to serve and protect. i want to believe the lapd are simply moving cautiously to avoid a repeat of an oj or casey anthony situation. i want to be wrong. right now we dont know why the cops took their sweet fucking time arresting d4vd. it seems like the cops were also dragging their feet on trying to find celeste while she was still alive. none of this inspires optimism in the system.
if the system doesnt even do what its own propaganda claims it does, what fucking good is it? prisons disappear problems rather than solving them, but they cant even do the one thing they claim to do.
the question is, regardless of how it ends, what does justice look like for celeste hernandez? merely locking up d4vd wont change the fact that dozens upon dozens of people had to turn the other way and shrug their shoulders for celeste to disappear into the clutches of her abuser and (probable) killer. what does justice look like in this situation? regardless of what happens, regardless if d4vd is convicted, it wont be enough.
